
Huawei Symantec’s N8000 is built on the TurboStor Architecture that delivers storage solutions for virtualized and cloud-ready data centers.
Based on the TurboStor Architecture, the Huawei Symantec Oceanspace N8000 series is a unified storage platform (NAS, FC SAN, and IP SAN) designed for mid-range and high-end storage applications. The N8000 offers advanced architecture, superior reliability, high performance, easy management and scalability up to 15 petabytes (PBs) of storage capacity. This scale-out NAS cluster provides 15PB of global namespace with 40 cabinets, 22 controllers, and 7,680 2TB HDDs. The N8000 meets the requirements of high-performance computing, databases, websites, file services, streaming media, video surveillance, and file backup. As an industry-leading clustered NAS storage system, the N8000 is widely deployed across industries such as manufacturing, government, enterprise, education, telecom, broadcast & television, and Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Cloud Scale Performance
• Unified Storage Solutions - The N8000 is a unified storage platform that provides up to 96 IP (1Gb or 10Gb ports) for (NAS and iSCSI) connectivity and up to 32 x 8Gb/s FC ports for high-performance block storage connectivity.
• TurboStor Clustered I/O Engine - The N8000 SAN and NAS I/O engine is built around 16 clustered modules that provide near-linear performance gains whenever a node is added. It is based on the Intel Xeon 64-bit, multi-core processor module which provides a total internal bandwidth of 36GB/s for cloud data bandwidth and high-performance data caches.
• TurboModule I/O Flexibility - The N8000 supports 12 I/O modules with 48 I/O bi-directional ports that enable Huawei Symantec storage systems to adjust I/O between front-end host connectivity and back-end storage modules, maximizes ROI, performance, and SLAs.
• TurboBoost SSD I/O Performance - Every application has a specific set of requirements and SLAs that must be met. The N8000 provides three classes of SSD optimizations that enable IT managers to tune solutions for maximum IOPs to support concurrency of user requests, data base indexing, and maximum bandwidth delivery.
• SmartCache Dynamic I/O Optimization - SmartCache supports up to 256Gb of cache to dynamic monitoring technology to control hotspots in HDD storage, and automatically migrates and caches on SSD to optimize application performance and better meet SLAs.
Virtual Storage Mobility
• Virtual I/O Consolidation - The TurboModule technology can significantly increase the density of I/O modules and ports in a single enclosure, and provide a flexible number proportioning and slots layout of front-end and back-end I/O modules.
• Maximize VM Density - The N8000 is designed to increase the number of VMs per storage system with its multi-dimensional tiered I/O architecture. SmartCache enables higher VM density per array by dynamically migrating I/O for the most accessed and mobile VMs.
• Multi-Fabric Host Connectivity for VM Mobility - One of the keys to VM mobility is access to shared and common I/O to provide the same levels of performance, data protection and security. This requires a storage system that can support multiple host and fabric connectivity for SAN and NAS, Ethernet and Fibre Channel.

HyperCopy is able to perform online copies so the LUN can be used during the copy process. It also supports throttling levels to enable the array to still meet SLAs during copy/migration projects.
• HyperMirror Synchronous & Asynchronous Remote Replication - HyperMirror provides two vital functions for IT managers. It enables multiple sites to share data for round-the-clock IT operations and it is a vital tool in preparing for disaster recovery scenarios. In Synchronous mode, HyperMirror is able to maintain an exact real-time copy of your storage data in a secure manner to remote locations. In Asynchronous mode, you are able to produce cost-effective remote replication to meet recovery point objectives (RPO) of under 60 minutes. HyperMirror provides host independent synchronization and can be used across all OSs and applications.
• UltraPath Multi-Pathing Software - UltraPath is a powerful, heterogeneous, multi-pathing application that supports SAN host connectivity with Huawei Symantec storage systems. It enables IT managers to specify and select alternate paths for your data in the event of a network failure. Residing on the host, UltraPath multi-pathing enhances SAN performance and application availability by eliminating network failures between the host and storage. UltraPath's multiple-pathing capabilities, automatic load balancing, and path failover functions, provide complete path management.
• HostAgent Data Protection Manager - HostAgent Data Protection Manager provides a host-based application for managing, configuring snapshots and replication volumes. Based on policy, regulatory and compliance requirements, older snap shots and replication volumes can be cleaned up and disk space recovered.
• DiskGuard Volume Manager - Huawei Symantec Oceanspace DiskGuard data backup software protects data and operating systems. DiskGuard provides comprehensive protection and quick recovery of data for various applications such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Informix, Sybase, and Exchange.
